Tales of the World Famous Drive Thru Bud is a comic book series based upon the character creations of Pat Ryan & Dave Sheridan, whom designed a series of faux Pot Crate Labels for their California Home Growers Association back in 1982.   They were members of the legendary Artistas Studio in Fairfax California during the 1970's / 1980's, which included other notable artists such as Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley, Victor Moscoso, and was the same location where many classic album covers and concert poster designs were created for such famous performers as Journey, Santana, Steve Miller, just to name a few.

The Pot Crate Label series infused the irreverent counter culture humor of the 1960's / 1970's along with masterfully crafted airbrushed artwork, and became a great commercial success as buttons, decals, and t-shirt designs that sold in the back pages of High Times Magazine and in Smoke Shops across the U.S.

After it's initial success the series became a forgotten but beloved underground cult classic amongst it's first generation of audience, but recently Last Gasp Books published a forty year anthology of Pat Ryan's works entitled "Sinsemilla Sinsations (2011, Last Gasp Books) introducing these works to a whole new generation of stoners.

As well, Golden Frog Press has now adapted some of the characters like Budzilla, Humboldt Honey, and Super Skunk into a comic book series entitled "Tales of the World Famous Drive Thru Bud", which brings to life their adventures and high-jinx in the tradition of underground comics such as Robert Crumb's "Zap Comix" and Gilbert Shelton's "Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers".

The Drive Thru Bud comic series is now up to it's fourth issue, with plans to do a trade paperback anthology, and has a new spin-off title called Stoner Comix, featuring original characters and story lines.
